MEET MY BEST FRIEND, TUX!

For the last 2 years I had been led to get a dog. At first, I didn’t understand why God had been laying it on my heart. The more He brought the idea to me, the more my heart softened towards owning a dog again. I was previously devastated about having to give up my last dog to live on a college campus. It was also a huge financial responsibility, so I wanted to be sure I was in a better position before even entertaining the idea of another companion.

By the time I purchased my home, I was excited about the possibility of having a puppy or dog in the house again. I searched adoption agencies and breeders high and low for months. Once I stopped looking, I remembered an awesome breeder south of my hometown. I contacted her and waited for her to announce when the puppies were coming. I could only hope I would be selected to parent one of the puppies. I had peace about waiting on a liter from her and decided to wait as long as necessary to become a new puppy owner.

After waiting and praying for months to have the puppy in time for Christmas, God worked it out even better. Tux, my best friend, was born on December 17, 2017, a day before my birthday. It was one of the best birthday gifts I received. I was allowed to pick him up the week of Valentine’s day. God matched our personalities as he and I compliment each other well. Adjusting to having a puppy is hard, but he is worth it. He has lowered my stress levels and helped me to prioritize what is important in life. He calms me down easily when I am anxious about a test or upcoming deadline. He is always happy to see me when I come home and always ready to listen to how my day unfolded. He is one of the best things I never knew I needed.
