Your Appointment with God
/Keeping your appointment for spending time with God is important for several reasons. God usually reveals things to us in our quiet time with Him. Whether we are worshiping, reading His Word, or praying, the time that is being spent is valuable. Not only are we able to voice our concerns to Him, but if we are still enough and focused on Him, the Holy Spirit will reveal to us the direction He would like for us to take.
Another reason why keeping our appointment with God is vital is because the devil doesn’t fight fair. Once God has planted a seed and or healed us, the devil will always come around to destroy the progress you have made with God. Since his relationship with God has been ruined, he doesn’t want you to have a relationship nor fulfill your purpose with God either. He has already lost so his whole goal is to be sure you lose as well. Ephesians 6: 10-13 says “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Lastly, I have found that spending time with God helps my mind to stay renewed in Him. It takes a lot of work to let go of old thought patterns and bad habits. We will not be able to stay on track without Him. We are only human. Just like any earthly relationship, time together is needed to keep it going. Without this time, the relationship dies…slowly.
All of the above reasons are critical to having a great relationship with God. Be sure to purposely make time for God in your schedule in the morning or afternoon. Being intentional about time with God has helped me tremendously. Remember that everyday is a spiritual battle and we choose each day who we will feed--our spiritual man or our worldly man. Who will you choose to feed?
